The Monday Snapshot – Labor Day Weekend Edition

Do you know how frustrating it is when you stupidly take your phenomenal Lifeproof case off your iPhone 5s for less than 12 hours, and in that time period your phone somehow comes out of your jacket pocket and drops perfectly into the toilet? That’s how my Saturday night went.

When I got home I went through all of our old phones (isn’t this ridiculous?), and the best phone I could find was my old iPhone 4 – but since the SIM card is a different size that my current one, I can’t actually activate it. UGH. I have insurance on my phone, but it’s $200 (with insurance – how stupid is that?) and the phone wouldn’t get here until Wednesday. Considering I leave for Vegas at 4am on Wednesday, that’s obviously not going to work for me! Instead I’m going to drive 30 miles to the next town up on my lunch break tomorrow to go to the nearest AT&T store and hope they have the SIM card I need to at least activate this old phone of mine. No way to I want to go to Las Vegas without a phone!

So yeah… it’s not the end of the world, but it is pretty damn frustrating because it was completely my fault and now I’ll have to use a crappy, slow old phone or spend hundreds on a new one. *sigh*

The rest of the weekend has been really nice, at least. We took the kids to the rodeo in town yesterday, and they absolutely loved it! I never took a family selfie (boo) but at least we got a couple cute photos of the kids on Charlie’s phone!

  1. Phone losing 🙁

    Stella’s outfit :))))))))

  2. That pic of them on the gate together is too cute!

Brian’s in the same boat as you. He set his phone on the car trailer while packing the trunk in Colorado and forgot about it. It wasn’t on, so we can’t track it. It’s gone. He’s still beating himself up over it but what can you do? We had 2 old phones so he set one up. ATT gave him a free SIM card. When new phones come out this fall, we’ll claim insurance ($150-$200) and get him a new one. It sucks, but that’s life. With the beatings these phone take, I chalk it up to an inevitable expense at some point. But it sucks because, like you said, it was his fault and unavoidable. I just wish he’d forgive himself! Forgive YOURSELF!

    Have fun in Vegas!

    1. Ps… Are those your Frye boots? I just showed them to Brian today while shopping. I’m in love with one of the styles. Not that we get permission to buy things.. But he asked that I please refrain. Ha! I am looking up your old posts to see where you got yours.

      1. I used 6pm.com – definitely watch for their sales. This style was normally $300+ and I got them for $190! They are worth every penny – SO comfortable and stylish.

        1. LOVE 6pm!

Got my Hunter rain boots there as a early bday gift for 40 percent off 🙂 And my Nike’s and Donald J. Pliner fall boots (similar discount to your Frye’s) last fall/winter also. Oh and Sorel’s!

(I am a FIRM believer in buying good quality shoes at a decent price and having less shoes than a closet full of not so great ones!)

        2. 6pm has a sale right now! Size shopping tomorrow, and if it’s a fit, I’m ordering!

      2. Just do it. he got the sports car 😉 you can get the boots x

        1. They are on sale right now…. And I’m headed to the mall tomorrow to see if an 11 is big enough. If so, I’m ordering, oh yes I am!!!!! (I wore an 11 pre-pregnancy and a 12 in running shoes, and I now require a 12.5 in running shoes…. So I’m worried this may be a moot desire…)

    2. Yeah, they’ll give me a free SIM card I’m sure – it’s just a pain to get to the store, and I’m phone-less for 3 days in the meantime. Ugh!

  3. Ugh! I feel you on the phone issue. I’ve been there too many times in the last 18 months. It looks like you have quite a collection of old phones to choose from though, so…silver lining?

The rodeo sounds and looks like so much fun!

  4. Uggggggh! I feel your pain. I am a champion phone destroyer. 🙁

  5. I can not get enough of Stella in those boots!!!!! An item not readily found here on the Peninsula!! And phones. Bah. I finally got my screen replaced after Molly smashed it a week after I bought it!!!!

  6. Those pink boots are amazing!! I’m not even going to comment on the phone because I’m afraid I might jinx myself but I will say, that sucks. 🙁 I hope you get what you need today before leaving town.

Phone thing sucks, including the drive – but at least you have your old phones. We always recycle ours – maybe we shouldn’t… I cracked my screen last week, but Rob managed to revive it until the replacement screen comes.
Love Stella’s outfit. And the rodeo. I adore the rodeo when we visit out west and get to go.
