MMM – Skiing Edition

So sorry for dropping off the face of the planet for the last week, but I’ve been horridly sick for the last week and trying to still hang in there for work and holiday fun and snowboarding & skiing. I know I know…more rest would have probably helped things, but I’ve been trying, I swear! We had been promising Stella all week that we would take her up for her first skiing adventure last Sunday, and there was just no way I was going to bail, so yesterday morning we dropped off Harvey at his grandparents’ house, I doped up on meds, and up the mountain we went. She got in six runs and improved exponentially each time. I’m so proud of her!

Related: I’ve been with her Dad for nearly 10 years, and I have NEVER seen him in snowpants. This was the first time in 15 years he has been up on the mountain, and he plans to actually ski with us once she gets going. I’m so excited!

I swear she was actually having fun. 🙂

  1. Awesome!!!!!

  2. This looks like so much fun! Little kids are SO CUTE on the slopes.

  3. Fun! I REALLY want to get my kids to the snow this year. They wanted to go last year (well, my daughter did) but there was quite literally no snow. This year there is supposed to be some, and if I can manage it I definitely want to get them up there. So fun!

  4. I love this!! I have a feeling you all will make some wonderful family memories over the years on those mountains!!

  5. That looks like so much fun! I’ve never been, but maybe one day. I hope you’re feeling better!

  6. Why doesn’t he go to the mtn? He doesn’t like to ski or snowboard or drink in the lodge? 🙂 It seems so odd to move all the way there if he’s not into that scene. Did he move bc his parents did? OK, sorry for the off-topic barrage of personal questions! Stella’s adorable and she will be a better skier than me in no time. Well, she already is. I tore my ACL during my second lesson ever.

    1. His parents moved him here in 6th grade from STL and he hated them for it at first. 🙂 He eventually made great friends and ended up loving it, but only skiied from 6th-12th grade. Then moved away to college, and when he came back at age 21, he was working outside in the cold for his dad all winter and didn’t want to spend his days off in the cold. Ha! He’s more of a golfer. 😉 Stella going up has motivated him to pick skiing back up though!

  7. I hear you on the sick front. I got a spring cold lost my voice so annoying. We took Toby to the snow this year we went to Queenstown think there would def. be snow.(Where we live it doesn’t snow unless it is freak weather.) There was snow on the ski fields but not any lower. We went biking in shorts hmm was not quite the plan but good fun. Think we’ll put him on skies next year. I am a terribly skier so my husband is the keen one but I try my best so Toby can have fun. Glad Stella had fun and you’ll be able to have good times as a family.
