Skiing, Day 2

Last Saturday my little brother and I took Stella up on the mountain for her 2nd day up. This time I was armed with an edgie wedgie (little clips you put on the tips of their skis to help keep their tips together in “pizza” mode to slow them down and give them better control) and a backpack with an integrated leash that allows you to control their speed & direction a bit and to easily pull them onto the ski lift chairs. I know that sounds a little crazy, but it actually worked fantastically well!

We tried a couple laps on the little magic carpet area, but with the leash in hand I felt confident to tackle the actual ski runs with her, so off we went. This was the first run we did (my brother is videotaping). She improved by leaps and bounds over the next 3 hours – it was SO much fun to see how comfortable she was out there! This weekend I think we will put her in ski school for a day to really work on turning and stopping, but dang, I bet she is a better skiier than me by the end of the season.

Also, we saw SO many 2 and 3 year olds on the mountain last weekend, and that really rejuvenated my goals to get Harvey up there next winter as well. I bet he would do really well, and with Charlie wanting to get into it again, it could be such a fun family activity to do together all winter. Gotta take advantage of where we live!

That mountain range to the back on the left is the design on a Coors can and is the first mountain I ever climbed when I moved out here 11 years ago. There’s your fun facts for the day. 😉

My brother with the kids last night about an hour past their normal bedtimes. They don’t love him at all. 😉 He’s going to be so great with them on the mountain!

  1. Can I put Gracie on a plane and have you take her, too? She’d die of happiness.

    1. Send her out anytime! <3

That’s so awesome! I wish we lived closer to the mountains to be able to do this more. We do have some “hills” near us and we had our son on them the same month he turned one (before he could even walk!) and then again a year later when he had just turned two. He loved it both times. This year I’m hoping he can become more independent.
