Stitch Fix #12 – Winter Edition

My newest Stitch Fix box showed up over lunch today, and I excitedly threw on the 5 items during my lunch break so that I could write up a post tonight for the blog after the fam went to sleep! As usual, I can’t wait to see what y’all think of everything. 🙂 This month I’m going to try something a little different and NOT give you even my initial gut feelings on the outfits to see if I’m way off base with public perception, and then I’ll post a followup post in a couple days to tell you what I kept and why, because for sure I will kept at least one item from this box. See the little note on the bottom of this post if you aren’t familiar with what Stitch Fix is and want to learn more about the service!

First off – the note from my stylist. She never spells my name right (ha!), but I do love all of her suggestions for how to pair & style the items. I have been HORRIBLE about updating my Pinterest board, so her note reminded me that she still looks at it and that I’d better get around to that soon. Oops!

The box was a different color palette than in the past, and I was actually pretty excited about the greens & blues! Lately I’ve been realizing how much I like them with my eyes, so it was fun to try something a little different. I’m definitely WAY more drawn to bright colors and jewel colors than beige/tan/grey/etc, but it’s also be nice to be expanding my closet with other colors lately.

So without further ado, here are the 5 items in this month’s box. I can’t wait to see what y’all think! Sorry the pics are a little foggy at first – there was sticky finger toddler gunk on my iPhone case and I didn’t notice it at first. Ha! The life of a Mom.

I can’t believe I’m back to getting boxes once a month, but quite honestly, I (1) love writing these posts and seeing what everyone thinks about the items, and (2) I’m making enough extra cash from Beachbody coaching every month that I can more than justify splurging on new clothing again, which is pretty darn fun. I’m also keeping up with PURGING items from my closet on a regular basis, so I’m not ending up with an overwhelming closet full of items, even though I’m adding a piece or two every month to it. It feels great!

As a quick recap, Stitch Fix is a stylist service for which you pay $20/box. The frequency of box shipments is up to you – (as often as every 2-3 weeks or on demand only), and if you keep any of the 5 items in each fix, your stylist fee goes towards the purchase price of what you keep. You give your stylist feedback on a form on their website and through Pinterest boards, blogging, etc. So far I think it’s a pretty awesome service. Some boxes have been better than others, but I like that it pushes me outside of my comfort zone to try new pieces on in the comfort of my own home, and anything I don’t like I can easily drop back in the mail in the included postage paid envelope. Pretty darn cool! My goal is to find one new piece I love with each fix, but if you love all 5 pieces, you get 25% off the entire box. The pieces aren’t as cheap as you’d find on a bargain website, but I do not have the patience to shop on sites / in stores like that. It is worth every penny to have it shipped to my home and I can try the items on while the kids run around being crazy. If you’d like to try it, please sign up through me and I’ll get a $25 referral fee. Thank you!

  1. GREAT box!

The jacket looks great, and fun! But… You live in Colorado and need REAL warmth in a jacket. Will this one do the job?

The slits in the side slit sweater are too high – not flattering. Pass.

Elbow patch cream top – LOVE. I would for sure keep. It is super flattering on you.

The next one – meh. Pass.

The plaid top – absolutely, without a doubt must keep! It looks like it was made for you!

I agree with Courtney! The side slit sweater is not a good look for anyone and the black/white shirt looks to be a little light/see through. Everything else looks good and I would keep them!

  2. Oh I love all of them I really do. I love the shirt that court was all meh about ha ha. I could see that with a pair of tailored black pants and your blue stilettos to rock a work outfit! Also you are looking absolutely gorgeous at the moment such a stunner!

  3. yep, I think that was the best box yet!

    1. Oh, how we disagree this time!!! 😉

      1. Nooooooo!!

      2. Wait. There was one other time. The love heart shirt – no ❤️😂

        1. Bahaha. Love always wins.

  4. I love the colour of the jacket but wonder about the warmth and think it’s a bit short needs another inch or two. The one I really like is the plaid shirt. I think it’s really flattering on you which is weird I’m not really a fan of plaid shirt but I think this one is good. The rest I’m a bit meh they aren’t bad just not great but there is also an element of how they feel on …

  5. Lots of good stuff in here! My vote is for the jacket (love the color and it fits great on you), the striped side slit sweater (my fave thing in the box) and the cream/grey plaid shirt. I like the blue plaid, too, but the cream plaid is more unique/interesting in my opinion. Also, I don’t agree with the first reviewer — every gal needs jackets of varying warmth, even if you live in Colorado! 🙂

  6. Hmmm… I’m honestly very uninspired by the whole box. Not very eye-catching really and sort of plain. I dislike the striped sweater a lot. I’ve tried that style on and I think it looks sloppy, good in theory but poor execution (sloppy in general ,mind you, not on you in particular). The color of the jacket is great but it looks too short for you, both in torso and arms. The patch sleeve sweater could be cute but in a different color combo, that’s just kind of blah… The hounds tooth shirt is something I would absolutely pick up to try on myself but something about it just doesn’t convince me for you. It needs to be roughed up a little somehow? Anyway, I do very much like the last blue plaid shirt and I’d keep that for sure, although if it weren’t for the $25 already “paid,” I’d consider nearly $50 on the high side for a basic shirt like that.

Looking forward to hearing your thoughts and seeing what you keep!!

Also, that very last picture of you, the far right in the blue plaid, is STELLA. O_O Too funny.

    1. You were spot on with my thoughts. 🙂

      1. Yessss!!! 😉

  7. Wow lots of varying opinions on this one!

Love the jacket but it is too short.

Crew neck elbow patch sweater is adorable and looks great on you. And I love elbow patches. Lol!

That plaid shirt was made for you. Colors, fit all of it. Must keep this shirt!!!!!

  8. You look great in the elbow patch sweater. The houndstooth blouse would be great for work. I like those two items but don’t care for any of the others.

Love the color of the green jacket, but I agree it looks too short and the sleeves look short – does it feel short? It looks better unzipped because it doesn’t look as short then.

LOVE the slit pullover sweater with leggings.. that’s all the rage right now and I think is super comfortable to wear.

Not a fan of the elbow patch shirt, blah.

Houndstooth blouse looks really good on you but $68 is expensive.. if you love the way it fits/feels, then keep, if you don’t love it then don’t keep.

The plaid shirt is awesome. It’s hard to find plaid shirts that have the right fit I think and aren’t too boxy, but that one looks great on you!

  10. Everybody is making it tough on you…

    Green jacket is too short.
Sweater with the slide slits is fun and different. Looks good on you. keeper
Crew neck path sweater and black and white plaid are both a little boring.
Navy plaid is great – keeper.

No on the jacket, although I love the color, we live in CO and need warmth.
LOVE the slit sweater, be cute with leggings and skinny jeans.
    Plaid shirt also a yes.
Maybe the elbow sweater and the hounds tooth shirt-be good for work.

  12. The houndstooth is my favorite. It’s a little different, and the fit is flattering. I like the colors of the plaid, but that’s too much to pay for that shirt IMO.

Hmm. I don’t do plaid shirts, but then again, I live in Phoenix, so maybe I just don’t get it. I like the sweater with the elbow patches and am on the fence about the jacket and the side-slit sweater.

Sorry, I’m not much help. 🙂

  14. The color of the coat is pretty, but it does look too short. I like the crazy slit shirt. I don’t think I would ever wear it, but it looks good on you. The elbow shirt is cute, but too boring of colors for it to be that expensive. The blouse is pretty; I’d buy it, but you look so great in color, I might ask if it comes in different colors. I was going to say no on the plaid shirt bc it’s so expensive, and you can find similar for so much cheaper, but after reading the comments, I totally agree with Audrey that the right fit of them is nearly impossible. So, get it! Love spending other people’s money!!! 🙂

  15. I love that white top I think it is the best. That sweater with the side splits is just yuk.

  16. Hmmm. I like the side split sweater. See how it looks with boots on. I am also down with the plaid top, but it seems a bit pricey for what it is.

Houndstooth blouse washes you out (but may be the pic). Green jacket is a GREAT colour on you, but is too small looking. Elbow patch top isn’t flattering, sorry :/

  17. I actually thought everything was flattering. I don’t think you could go wrong keeping any one of those tops!

  18. Okay, trying this without reading other comments first!

The bright green colour suits you… but the coat looks a bit small. I don’t think it would be very comfy in that size. Pass.

I am not sure about the sweater with the slits up the sides. I actually really like it from the front and back but not sure about the slits. Unsure about pass or keep.

Elbow patch sweater is too ‘blah’ I think, especially at that price. I actually love elbow patches but from the front it just looks totally plain. Pass.

Hawthorne one – definitely no. That is my least favourite of all. Blah. Pass.

Plaid one – I would totally wear this and believe you would too. Suits you, looks good, comfy, perfect for this time of year (where you are!), but the price seems a bit much so more depends on what you are willing to spend or treat yourself to this month. Keep if affordable.

And by the way, you look fantastic!!!

  19. LOVE the plaid shirt!

  20. Please tell me you kept ABSOLUTELY (Dedi Side Slit Pullover Sweater – $58). That looks fantastic on you!

    1. At the last minute I decided to keep it and totally love it now! 🙂

  21. […] was SO fun to read all of your opinions on this last fix when you weren’t influenced by my thoughts on the items. 🙂 Honestly, I started out thinking […]
