Mental Health Day

Tuesday was payroll day, and when I glanced at my paycheck stub I realized that I had one unaccounted for vacation day that needed to be used in the next 2 days or I would lose it. Well then – that’s a no brainer!

Yesterday became my mental health day wherein I actually used a paid vacation day to do something FUN for me instead of giving the Nanny the day off or staying home with sick kids. I gave an old friend a call who I used to work (and snowboard) with seven years ago, and luckily she was able to meet me on the mountain for some fun in the sun and snow. We both have two kids now so it’s harder than ever to get together, but yesterday reminded me how badly I need to focus on fostering those old friendships. We had a lot of catching up to do, yet it was like old times too.

At any rate, it was -7 when we woke up yesterday morning (and maybe 15 degrees when we were actually riding since we were wusses and pushed back our start time by a couple of hours), so we packed a little cinnamon whiskey to keep us warm and rode to our hearts’ content. What a fantastic day. <3

  1. ah I’m so glad you did that! The sort of thing I need to do too…

  2. That’s so awesome. I really need to try and do more of that, too. I don’t think I really ever get to go anywhere alone these days let alone do something nice for myself!

    1. I am a MUCH happier person when I get days like this. 🙂
