Top 3 Ways a Tailbone Injury is Comparable to Being 9 Months Pregnant

  1. Getting into your car sucks. I generally approach the vehicle with apprehension, take a deep breath, and then gingerly lower myself into the seat with a groan. Getting out is a close second for difficulty and/or pain.
  2. Working out requires constant modifications and sometimes doesn’t feel worth it, even though you know you’ll feel better once you’ve done it. This includes sex.
  3. Diagnosing the condition requires invasive medical procedures (*cough* rectal exam *cough*) which I just don’t feel are truly necessary, since the only “cure” for the issue is time.

toiletpaper-300x269That being said, no more park riding for me on a snowboard! 11 days later and I’m still hurting after a pretty epic fall on my ass, and everyone I’ve spoken with with an injured tailbone experience says it takes years to heal. So that’s fun. Trying to keep it in perspective though. Things could be worse. 😉

Ugh. I’m sorry. Wishing you speedy healing!

  2. I just felt so bad for you today when I saw your post in our group. This is awful. My shoulder, the first time it went out, took years or PT to get better and I hated it. It plagued me all the time. Can you really even mess it up any more than it already is? I guess that may be the one positive here – that if you keep working out, it can’t get worse. Or can it?

    I’m frustrated for you.

    1. Yeah, I’m going to double check with my boss today, but I don’t think I can hurt it more. It’s just really hard (impossible) to do some (many) moves now. Luckily elliptical doesn’t hurt, so I’m going to try to keep harder at that for cardio and then modify PiYo and 21DFX moves.

  3. I am so sorry, Jos. Sounds painful.

  4. I was wondering how you’d pull up. Clearly OUCH. I’m carrying niggles (the groin, Achilles!!) but it’s so worth i t right?

    1. Totally worth it 🙂 It’s been years since I’ve had an injury like this. Just annoyed with myself for going so big! I’m so not a park rider. Ha!

  5. You forgot to mention how much fun pooping is too!

    1. LMAO. I love that this is your first comment on my blog, but yes, pooping is no fun in either scenario either. 😉

  6. OUCH! I admit I was a little disappointed reading it was due to a fall on the snowboard and not a drunken girls weekend disaster 🙂

    1. LMAO. Thanks, Sheelah. I was oddly impressed with how NOT drunk we got last weekend. Well, by our standards anyway. 😉

  7. I injured mine years ago skiing. It was excruciating for years. Finally one night I sat down to pee further back on the tools than usual. It popped! It hasn’t bothered me since. I now wonder if it was dislocated. Might be something to look into.

    1. That’s what my friend just told me! I’m trying to get into the chiropractor tomorrow 🙂

  8. ugh, that sucks! i hope you’re better soon!
