Girlfriends

For most of my life, I’ve been a “guys’ girl.” I got along with women just fine, and I always had a couple of close girlfriends, but for the most part, I preferred guys as they seemed to encourage less drama and bullshit and just go with it.

BUT…over the past few years I have slowly seen my tribe come together. Some of us are married, some of us are not. Some of us are moms, some of us are not. The common tie between all of us is that there is very little drama, a lot of outdoor fun, and just laid back cool ass women who are always up for a challenge and/or an adventure, whether it’s a hike or a music festival or a rafting trip or a night out on the water.

On Monday my friend who has a ski boat started a FB message called “Ladies night surf session” and asked 14 of us if we wanted to join her on the water Wednesday night for a “lady shred session on the lake.” No joke, within an hour there were 9 of us that said YESSSSSSS!

Straight up – last night was probably THE best night of my life with friends in my 11 years of living here. We were on the water from about 6-9:30 after work, and it was freakin’ fantastic, every minute of it. The weather was perfect and the company even better. Most of us were wake surf newbies, and everyone was so encouraging and supportive of each other, and the boat was full of laughter and music and dancing and great talks.

I love my tribe, I really do.
