Day 4, #NaBloPoMo – Television

The prompt for today asked which fall shows should be cancelled already, and honestly, the only two new shows we started watching this fall are so freakin’ incredible that I decided to write about that instead! 🙂

This Is Us

Oh ’em frickin’ G. This show. I cry at some point during EVERY.SINGLE.EPISODE. Sounds like an odd endorsement of the show, but seriously – if you haven’t checked this show out – do it today. Please please please start with the first episode though, because it really sets the scene for everything that comes after. Definitely be aware that there are ALI triggers in the show, but if you’re in a fairly healed head space, I think you’ll love this show. This is hands down my VERY FAVORITE show on television right now, and I can’t wait to see how their story lines unfold. The story’s basic premise is about all of these 36 year old people who were born on the same day, and you start to see how their lives are intertwined. It’s fantastic.

This is another fun new show that we have totally enjoyed watching thus far. Watch it here. The premise involves a time machine and the three main characters are trying to stop another gent from screwing up history. They pop all over to important times in history – the assassination of Abraham Lincoln, Nazi Germany, etc. It’s so interesting to think about what you would do if you were in that situation – with full knowledge of what’s about to happen… do you stop the assassination of a man that changed the course of black rights in our country for decades? It’s a really neat show, and we totally hope they continue it. Did I mention how fun it is to see everyone in period attire? The wardrobe person for that show must love his/her job. 🙂

So there ya go – my two favorite new shows. 🙂 We are still huge fans of Suits (honestly, that’s what gave us the idea of the name Harvey!), Blindspot, Survivor, Designated Survivor, Secrets & Lies, and Once Upon a Time…just to name a few. 😉 We totally love to watch a show or two together at night after the kids go to bed, so yes, we have quite a repertoire of shows built up on our DVR at this point. I just love cuddling with Charlie and talking about whatever show we are currently watching!

  1. Love This Is Us! McMister didn’t want to watch it from the previews, but after I watched the first episode alone, I forced him to watch “just that one.” He is way more obsessed with it now than I am 🙂

    1. Lol, it’s so great!!!

It has been so long since I regularly watched a show on network TV. I am completely out of touch with what is popular and/or good on TV.

You are about the fifth person I’ve seen raving about This Is Us. Maybe I should check it out.

    1. Seriously. If I had to pick one show to watch anymore, that would be the one.
