Our local school closes for the entire week of Thanksgiving, so this week is when the kids get to celebrate the holiday with their classmates. Today the parents (and grandparents) were invited to enjoy a lunch made entirely by the fifteen 3 and 4 year old kids in Stella’s class. My husband wasn’t able to make it today because of work, but my father-in-law came in his place, so Stella got to each lunch with me and her Papa. She was SO excited – it was beyond adorable. 🙂
The kids had all decorated 3 triangles ahead of time about their families to make a big class banner. I forgot to take a pic of the whole thing when I was there today, but below are Stella’s drawings. She really wanted “real” pictures on there two, so I printed two out and she decorated the rest. I love her shooting stars and that she actually dresses us all in different clothes now!
Our menu for lunch included crock pot mac-n-cheese, roasted turkey, crock pot rice and corn, a fruit platter, mini corn muffins, popcorn, and hot dogs. Because why not have hot dogs at Thanksgiving when the kids picked the menu? They also had made pumpkin bars for dessert, and our drink choices were chocolate milk, apple juice, and water. It wasn’t exactly on point historically, but the kids were SO proud of themselves for cooking it all themselves, so it was on point for the adults. 🙂
I love those little shooting stars, too! So adorable. And whatever you are doing for your skin is working. It looks amazing!
In all fairness, I don’t think that the native Americans and pilgrims sat around eating turkey and corn in our real American history either. 😉
Haha, very true.
Fun! I think our school did a potluck today too but I’m not there and did nothing for it. #momoftheyear
Well, all I did was print out two pictures on our home printer at 7am on Monday because those banners had sat at our hours for 2 weeks not getting completed and the deadline was Monday at 8am! 🙂 Also, I work 3 minutes from the school, so it was easy enough to take an early lunch to be there for this today. I am no #momoftheyear when it comes to school things by any means!
The whole week of Thanksgiving off??? Nice! Loved seeing this sweet post 🙂
NOT nice for all the parents who work full time outside the home! It’s a total pain in the ass. 1 full week at Thanksgiving, 2 full weeks over Christmas/NYE, 1 full week in Feb, 1 full week in April. Plus random days of course. It’s kinda crazy!
Yeah, I actually thought “that sucks,” but didn’t want to post something negative on there hahaha. Nice for the kiddos is what I meant 🙂
Lmao. Yeah yeah.
What a fun day!! And neat that you guys could be there with her.
And, ditto on a week off being kind of shitty… it’s good for the kids to get breaks, but that’s a little excessive considering how close to Christmas it is!
