5

This morning our (fantastic, amazing, intelligent, loving, beautiful) newly 5 year old firstborn child woke us up at 5am to let us know that we had failed her. Yep.

Last night she made us promise to wake her up by singing Happy Birthday to her with presents in hand like we did 2 years ago (see 2:30 in the video from 2014 below), and apparently at 5am she felt we had forgotten about her birthday and failed at our jobs as parents, so she came in to tell us so. LOL

Charlie actually had to leave for work at 5:15 this morning so he was already awake, but I also popped out of bed when she walked in, and there on the floor of our master bedroom, we quietly sang Happy Birthday to her at 5am and watched her open the presents I had just wrapped 6 hours before. She was happy, so we were happy. 🙂

Harvey then woke up at 5:20 right after Charlie walked out the door. I’m exhausted already!

  1. Happy birthday, Stella! Seems like longer than five years to me.

What did you get her? Always looking for Christmas ideas 🙂

    1. This jersey dress covered in stars (http://www.hm.com/us/products/search?q=79-6253) which she absolutely loves and is wearing today with leggings, and these fancy shoes (http://www.hm.com/us/products/search?q=08-3057) which are actually for her flower girl duties in my sister’s wedding next month, but I let her wear them today. 🙂 I also got her some pink & purple sparkly nail polishes, head bands, etc. She is all about accessories these days! My Mom got her a gorgeous ballerina musical jewelry box with her initials inscribed on it, and my MIL got her a Rapunzel dress-up dress and a Ariel doll from Sam’s Club. 🙂

      1. I got Gracie almost the exact same dress last year, but they were hearts instead of stars. She wore a hole in it she wore it so often! The ballerina jewelry box sounds like one I had as a kid; I bet Lyla would love that. And great ideas about the nail polishes and headbands! Perfect stocking stuffers!

    2. Oh, and we got her and her two best friends tickets to the local ballet production of The Polar Express. Myself and the other two Moms are taking them next Friday. 🙂

  2. Happy Birthday Miss Stella!

  3. Aww, that’s sweet. Happy 5th Birthday to Stella! Time sure flies. 🙂

  4. Happy Birthday Stella! Five years…crazy!

  5. How is it these girls are 5? Happy birthday Stella! Hope she had the day she wanted!
