Growing up, I was always the kid in the corner / back of the bus / side of the playground with my nose in a book. I could read a book from beginning to end every day if my Mom would let me. Reading wasn’t just a pastime for me – it was something I LOVED.
Somewhere in the last 10 years, that changed, and I’m finally realizing that I’m going to have to make it a priority and change my habits if I’m ever going to reclaim that love!
I do listen to books on Audible from time to time when I’m driving to work conferences (generally 2 hours away, one way) or to kids’ activities in the town 30 minutes away, but that’s not the same as curling up on the couch with a warm blanket and a good book.
Well, I certainly don’t have a ton of down time in my life, but I decided that I am going to start by re-claiming my lunch hours. I usually run multiple errands and then scarf down some leftovers while Netflix is on, but I’m done. My husband can help with errands, or I’ll dedicate time on my Fridays or something to do them, but from now on, I’m going to try to very deliberately structure my lunch breaks to be something I actually ENJOY.
I have an hour long lunch break and live 3 minutes from work, so that gives me a solid amount of time to drive home, make a healthy lunch, and then sit down and enjoy a few chapters of a good book, either on my couch or out in the sun. I started today, and it feels so good…

I read Daring Greatly and really enjoyed it. I love Brene Brown!
Although I am not as lucky as you are to live 3 minutes from work, I often use a portion of my lunch hour to read. Reading is one of my absolute favorite things, so I have to make time for it!
