25 Weeks

Well, I officially feel like a teenager. I’m hormonal, struggling with facial acne, gaining weight in weird places, don’t want to get out of bed, and feel like my body isn’t my own.

Ha! Even with everything I described above, I honestly still feel pretty darn good, and I plan on holding onto the “golden” phase of pregnancy for as long as I can. 🙂

I mentioned in my 23 week post that I finally broke down and hired a cleaning lady for our bathrooms & kitchen. She & her husband came that afternoon, and it was $40 for a “2 hour clean.” She’s worth the $30 and he’s worth the $10. The good news is that she cleaned my master bathroom and WHOO-BOY does it look awesome. I got a long lecture about keeping up with soap scum in the shower tile grout & sediment in the kitchen food disposal (meh, that’s what I hired you for) and then a hug to congratulate me on the pregnancy. Awkward? Yes. But we’ll definitely be having them come back once a month for the foreseeable future. I make fun of Sarah for her crazy cleaning regimens (on her hands and knees with a toothbrush? no thanks!), but in all honesty, I do like to have scrubbed tile grout & a sparkling white kitchen sink – it’s just never going to happen if it’s left up to me and my husband. I figure with all the money we’re saving by me not drinking right now, we could at least shuffle those funds towards a clean kitchen & bathrooms. 😉

As I mentioned on Monday, having clean bathrooms renewed my interest in freshening them up a little. They’re original to the house (circa 1995) with gold knobs & cheap cabinetry and shelving – whatever the contractor special was at Home Depot that day. On Saturday I told Charlie I wanted to paint the walls & base cabinets to at least give them some new life until we have the money to actually gut & re-do them with the gorgeous tile we bought that has been sitting out in our garage for the last three years. We did a family walk down to the hardware store (FitBit Steps FTW!) and picked up a couple gallons of paint and spent the rest of the weekend trading off cutting & rolling a few different coats of paint in the tiny spaces. It’s so fun to slap a new coat of paint on the walls & completely change the look of a space!
