WWW – Upping My Step Count

Okay, I know I said I was focusing on nutrition more than exercise this month, but so far it’s been a little bit the opposite. My daily average step count has gone from 3,000 to 9,000. That’s a big change! I even had a 20k step day last weekend, which crushed my previous record of 14k set just last week. It feels good to be moving again – which is SO much easier with longer days and warmer weather. I’m trying really hard to stay in the top 10 of my Fitbit friends, which as of right now requires a 9,500/day average step count (and the top “stepper” has almost a 20k/day average). Y’all are insane, you know that?

At any rate, I’m never going to walk 20k steps/day when I sit at a desk 9 hours a day, but I am working my butt off to try to average closer to 10k, and I hope I can keep that up! I really want to get back into my C210k app. There is a 10k in the neighboring town on the 4th of July that I did the summer before I got pregnant with Stella, and I’d like to try to do that again. There is also a half marathon between that town and here that we’ve talked about doing in memory of Jaime.

DAMN, I just went to the website to link to it and realized I will be in MN that weekend. Ugh. Well, I do want to get motivated to do something like that soon!

As for tracking food, I do well until the weekend, and usually Friday night and all day Saturday I just give up on tracking because we’re drinking beers and grilling out and…ya, I don’t want to get overly insane about tracking since I’m toeing the line with keeping this an exercise in healthy weight loss and not disordered eating. On the flip side, I probably won’t seriously lose weight unless I track those miscellaneous weekend calories that add up so quickly. Things are always a work in progress.

Just to repeat, these have been my goals for 4-5 months postpartum:

I’m going to keep working on tracking in MFP and keep doing good workouts on Wednesdays/Saturdays/Sundays when I’m not at work and/or have help from Charlie.

Next week I plan to give an update on measurements, weight, goals, etc. at 5 months postpartum (how am I 5mpp already?!).

How are you all doing with your fitness / healthy living goals?
