MILF Check-In: 6.5 Months Postpartum

On a whim this morning I decided to change the name of my weight loss/fitness check-in posts. For nearly 5 years I’ve called them WWW (Weekly Wednesday Weigh-ins), but I rarely write these on Wednesdays anymore, and I want the focus to be more on total body fitness than just weight and weight loss, so it was time for a change. I’ve seen the MILF acronym around the internet lately (as in Moms In Love with Fitness), and I kinda like it. 🙂

Without further ado, here is my MILF check-in at 6.5 months postpartum!

Please excuse the horrid wallpaper in the bathroom at my office!

My goal for 6 months pp was to lose all of the baby weight (done!) and to get back into the 150s (so close! 160.2#). By the following weekend – which also happened to be our 6 year wedding anniversary – I finally saw that elusive 5 on the scale – 159.6#! I was able to stay in the 159# range for over a week, and then somehow I jumped back up a few pounds, even though I’ve been doing very well with my food tracking and exercise. This morning I was back down to 159.0#, and though my ultimate goal is to get to a toned 150#, I am beyond happy to finally be in the 150s. My clothes are already fitting SO much better, and with some toning and a few more pounds of weight loss, I know I will feel strong and happy and confident in my body again for the first time in 4 years.

So here’s the deal – we leave tomorrow for vacation for 10 days. THIS IS AWESOME. However, eating & drinking on vacation almost always causes weight gain, and I REALLY DO NOT WANT TO LOSE THOSE POUNDS ALL OVER AGAIN.

So I made a plan.

I’m bringing my tennis shoes & my sports bras, and I WILL work out while on vacation. I will eat mindfully (no binge eating chips, for example), yet I will enjoy myself (beer me!). I was going to lend my FitBit to my husband for a week (this coming Monday-Sunday) because he will be flying back to go to work and I will be spending a lot of time lounging by the pool and at the lake. Since my FitBit One isn’t waterproof, I was thinking it’d be a fun week to see how many steps my husband takes since he’s always bragging about how much he thinks he walks at work. That being said – I just don’t think I can part with it! I think I’ll keep it for the week like usual and use it to motivate me to really get my steps in first thing in the morning before being in the water the rest of the day. My sister has already sent me a few workouts she wants to do on Saturday and Sunday, and while I’m at the lake with my girlfriends I’m going to try to talk Kristy into doing a few workouts with me as well.

Wish me luck (err… motivation)!
