This morning Stella and I were walking out the door at 7:45am and I was patting myself on the back for having my shit together and being on time for once.
7:46 – see random piece of paper on the counter as I walk out that says “Halloween Party Tomorrow! Preschoolers can wear their costumes ALL DAY! Our class party beings at 9:30am. The school wide parade starts at 2:15pm. Please feel free to bring a snack to share at our party!”
SHIT SHIT SHIT. I can’t be “that parent” who sends her 3yo to school as the only one not dressed up.
Stella, get back in the house right now!
- Strip her down
- Send her into her dress up closet to pick out an outfit.
- Fly around the house looking for the Elsa wig; settle on the Elsa hat + braid because it’s nowhere to be found.
- Say screw it to putting together a snack.
- Tell her to pick out whatever shoes she wants; pink cowgirl boots it is.
7:55 – head back out the door knowing that I’m going to be late for work. GAH.
At 2:15, I even skipped out of work for about 30 minutes to watch Stella VERY SHYLY walk by in the elementary parade. Just another day in the life of a slacker parent. HA! #winning
