Day 16, #NaBloPoMo – Preschool Chefs

Our local school closes for the entire week of Thanksgiving, so this week is when the kids get to celebrate the holiday with their classmates. Today the parents (and grandparents) were invited to enjoy a lunch made entirely by the fifteen 3 and 4 year old kids in Stella’s class. My husband wasn’t able to make it today because of work, but my father-in-law came in his place, so Stella got to each lunch with me and her Papa. She was SO excited – it was beyond adorable. 🙂

The kids had all decorated 3 triangles ahead of time about their families to make a big class banner. I forgot to take a pic of the whole thing when I was there today, but below are Stella’s drawings. She really wanted “real” pictures on there two, so I printed two out and she decorated the rest. I love her shooting stars and that she actually dresses us all in different clothes now!

Our menu for lunch included crock pot mac-n-cheese, roasted turkey, crock pot rice and corn, a fruit platter, mini corn muffins, popcorn, and hot dogs. Because why not have hot dogs at Thanksgiving when the kids picked the menu? They also had made pumpkin bars for dessert, and our drink choices were chocolate milk, apple juice, and water. It wasn’t exactly on point historically, but the kids were SO proud of themselves for cooking it all themselves, so it was on point for the adults. 🙂
