Whole 30 – Day 4

Are you feeling puny today?

Those are the words that my coworker greeted me with at work this morning. Why yes, yes I am, thank you very much for noticing.

To be fair, I overslept this morning, thus my face is nearly bare of makeup and my hair is crazy, frizzy and air dried…but c’mon, really?

It’s Day 4 of my first #Whole30. I also crashed REALLY hard on my snowboard on closing day last weekend. Basically, every part of my body hurts and hates me right now, and I can’t tell if it’s from the sugar (and dairy, alcohol, grain, and legume) withdrawals, my high speed impact with hard packed snow two days ago, or both.

Can you tell I’m not skipping around with a smile on my face today?

But seriously. I need this. You can read more about the program here, but I really am excited to see what I’ll learn from this process. My dependence upon food and alcohol as coping mechanisms, my frustrating skin issues, my horrid seasonal allergies, the fertility issues we had in the past – all of these could easily be tied to the foods I’m eating. And I’m done. I’m ready. I’m excited. I’m terrified.

I’m not going to be blogging here about it every day, but I’ll try to keep this page updated so that I have it to look back on. I’m hoping that I love it so much that the #Whole30 can become something I come back to again and again whenever I need a reset. The creators of it are very clear that it shouldn’t be a #Whole365, but I do see the benefit in eating this way for a month (or few months) at a time to help reset your gut issues, immune system, metabolism, etc.

Wish me luck!
