Birthdays – Births – Awards – Insurance – Morning Sickness

Wanna guess which topics excite me and which ones suck? 🙂

First off, HAPPY BIRTHDAY to three of my favorite people in the world!!!

(1) Little brother T. He turns 20 today, and is an absolutely amazing guy. Love him so much! Poor kid just went through a sad breakup on Sunday, but he told me that my good news on Monday (the u/s) helped to balance out the sadness currently in his world. What a sweet kid. 🙂

1 yr ago (may 1st) at our cousin’s wedding
(2) BFF J. She turns 29 today, and I miss her every single day. We met in 7th grade, and she is one of those people that has always been there for me. We went from nearly identical people with identical lives, to graduating college and having life change drastically. She has been married for 7+ years now (shit, sorry J – I think that’s right?), and has two adorable kids, one of which was the ring bearer in my wedding, and one of which was 8 weeks old when she drove cross country for said wedding. Told ya she was amazing. Me… well, I broke up with the long-term boyfriend, moved 1,000 miles away, and when I finally was ready to settle, get married, and have kids, well, you all know how that went. No matter what – she always has my back through, and I love her for it. 🙂
June 2000. Wow, how time has flown.
(3) Good buddy D. This is one of the first guys I met in my current little town, and he is a totally awesome friend. I actually told him about our BFP this week b/c he was inviting us to his KICK ASS AWESOME BACKYARD BBQ BIRTHDAY PARTY tonight… and I just had to tell him. It involves copious amount of alcohol in the hot summer sun (that’s right, 6″ of snow and freezing last Sunday, but today is 70 and sunny!)… and then lots more drinking at the local bar. Three weeks was about the max I could hide this non-drinking thing from him, so I told him…and immediately started crying. Goofy guy gave me a hug and said, “Jos, this is a good thing, right?!” LOLOLOL… um, yeah. I’m just hormonal and thankful. But thanks for asking.
D is far right (front) next to me. Good times. 🙂
Isn’t it bizarre to realize how many people out there have the same birthday as yourself? I actually know a guy with the same birth day AND birth year as me. Way weird.
At any rate, speaking of birthdays, huge congrats to Kelly over at Little Looman Log!!! Her beautiful little clone daughter Maggie was born on Monday after just ONE PUSH. She was induced 3 weeks early, so the speedy delivery was definitely a surprise to everyone involved. 🙂 Congrats Kelly!!

Awards – I had to address this quick so y’all didn’t think I was avoiding your sweet nominations.
(1) I suck at finding random things to tell people about me.
(2) I did try to think of interesting tidbits in these posts here. I just wanted to say that I totally appreciate your nominations though, and feel very honored that so many people bother to read my blabbering (and actually profess to like it!). LOL. It’s a crazy world we live in.

Speaking of awards – JMM – who are you?! You said you nominated me and to pick it up on your blog…but I don’t know who you are and your profile is private? Include a link to your blog in the comment pretty please!

Insurance.
Not such a fun topic. I am BEYOND FRUSTRATED right now. Back on April 15th (just 15dpo before I knew this would hopefully be a go!), I expeditiously submitted every.single.required.document (TWICE!) to ensure getting maternity coverage beginning May 1st. I called them this past Monday (May 2nd) and left a message asking what was going on. I called them again today b/c I’m tired of paying OOP for meds/etc that should be covered by this new plan.

They gave me some b.s. line about my DL picture came through “completely illegible and dark in the fax.”

Um, nope. Sorry. I SCANNED AND EMAILED a copy to you, and I COLOR COPIED AND HARD MAILED a copy to you. Both completely clear and completely legible – just to ensure this wasn’t an issue. She made up another b.s. excuse about them not getting that (yeah, right, but you got the other 18 bazillion pages I sent with?), so I made her stay on the line while I re-emailed her the exact same thing and she says, “okay, yep! this is a great copy! I’ll try to push this through today, but it will be next week before we can get you your documentation.”

That doesn’t help with the prescriptions I need to pick up TODAY thankyounotsoverymuch.

Fucking insurance. And that’s all I have to say about that. So glad I’m going to spend nearly $400 of my hard earned money on this company every month. UGH.

Morning Sickness
Really, this deserves a post all of its own (and it will probably be getting one next week), but in a word(s),
It fucking sucks.
Yep, sorry Mom. That’s the f*word twice in one post. But holy crap, I have never felt so awful in my life. I spent this entire week feeling like death all day, every day (2am, dogshit. 4pm, dogshit. 10pm, dogshit. My m/s is non-discriminatory as to time.). I puke in the morning. I puke at night. I puke in the restaurant bathroom where I was attempting to bartend last night. It’s not fun.

FYI – I’m not going to be one of those preggo ladies (ugh, I hate the word preggo, what’s wrong with me?) that apologizes for “complaining about pregnancy.”

Of COURSE I’m thankful. Of COURSE I’m ecstatic beyond words that I have a little human growing inside me that is sucking away at my core. It doesn’t mean I can’t feel absolutely miserable and want my husband to wait on me hand and foot comfort me.

Phew, sorry for the long-winded post, but that’s what you get when I still don’t have a computer at home. I need to multi-task when I have a moment at the office. 🙂

Happy weekend to you all. If you’re KU or dealing with snotty children, Happy Mother’s Day! If you’re not, drink a ton for me…please…and in all seriousness (not that I’m not serious about you drinking one for me), I’ll be praying that every one of you on my list gets to celebrate this ridiculous holiday sooner rather than later.
