Measuring the Passage of Time…with Snowboarding :)

(This is me keeping busy & killing time until my next u/s follie check in the morning. I’m so nervous/excited!)

Dec 1, 2004 – I moved to Colorado “for the winter” between undergrad and grad school
Since I obviously still live in Colorado, y’all can see how that worked out. LOL
Maybe some day I’ll go back to get my Masters, but for now, I’m living life in the mountains!

6 years ago (’04-’05):
I was still a skier, but tried snowboarding a couple of times. I fell. A lot.
Stuck to green (easy) runs.

5 years ago (’05-’06):
I started getting more confident with snowboarding – went a few times with friends.
Started riding blue (intermediate) runs.
I still fell. A lot.

4 years ago (’06-’07):
My first real winter commuting to work in the resort town and riding with an unlimited ski pass.
My coworkers E & N taught me to be a real life snowboarder. ๐Ÿ™‚
Still loved the cruisers (blues), but started riding double blue and a little black.

3 years ago (’07-’08):
Working close to home so it’s a 45 min. commute to the mountain.
Still bought an unlimited ski pass b/c lots of my friends went up and we carpooled often!

2 years ago (’08-’09):

I was working a lot and still commuting to the mountain with friends – bought a 10 day pass (I think? Might have been an unlimited).
Spent a lot of time trying to get better at moguls and steeps.

1 year ago (’09-’10):
I bought a 10 day pass after making sure they could put it on hold for a year because I was thinking I’d be pregnant anyway so I wouldn’t need an unlimited pass. HA.
Still got to ride with random friends. Finally feel confident riding anywhere on the mountain!

 …though that doesn’t mean I didn’t still fall. A lot. ๐Ÿ™‚

This year (’10-’11):

I bought an unlimited pass…sort of hoping for the Murphy’s Law of if I had a pass I’d get pregnant.
Ha.
I know know better than that by now. ๐Ÿ™‚

That being said, today was another awesome powder day on the mountain! It’s the last week of the season and I don’t know if the RE will let me snowboard after the IUI, so I’m getting as many days in now as I can!

If any of you ever want to vacation in southwest Colorado and ski/snowboard at one of the best resorts in the country, hit me up. ๐Ÿ™‚

  1. Wow, it's amazing how each of us can view our TTC timeline. Enjoy it while you can. I've never really skied or snowboarded, I'm afraid I'd kill myself if I tried now.

  2. I loved the timeline. Congrats on sticking with it, it looks like a lot of fun!

  3. I am so impressed with people who can start something new and get truly good at it. Good for you!

  4. Hello! I just wanted to stop by to thank you for visiting my blog and for each of your comments. It is much appreciated. I have been following your blog for awhile (hope that doesn't sound creepy) but have only commented a couple of times. I hope you all the best with the new steps you are about to take on this journey and I hope to be reading about your BFP very soon!!

  5. How fun! I have actually never been skiing – a little scared to quite frankly. Afraid to snap off my leg or something. ๐Ÿ™‚ Hope your appointment goes well this morning!

  6. I will definitely be taking you up on that offer in the future! I've been skiing in CO once, in April a few years ago, and it was *amazing*. On another note I hope your apt today goes well – and you, Amanda and I are in a successful 2ww together.

  7. I thought that was on my list of places to go/things to do, but after your pics it is definitely on the list. (Only I will be wherever the skiers are who focus on slowly getting to the bottom without a fall…the ones that drive others nuts!) Looks like fun!!! Hope this IUI cycle is still progressing right on track for you!

  8. Omg, what's with you in the body bag?? lolGlad you've gotten your boarding in this season, cause next season you'll be too pregnant to hit the slopes ๐Ÿ™‚

  9. Love it! I love snowboarding but defiantly live in the wrong state for it. Thanks for sharing!

  10. Invite or not, you couldn't escape me if you tried. ๐Ÿ™‚

  11. That's awesome! I am so jealous…I still plan on coming out and going out there with you one day! Although you will be so embarrassed to be seen with me-since I have never seen snow, I will be the one tripping over the gear and making snow angels ๐Ÿ™‚ If you come down here you will have to hit me up and you can go wakeboarding!

  12. Read this quote in a book and your post made me think of it:"Time is important to me now, I tell myself. Not that it should pass quickly or slowly, but be only time, be something I live inside and fill with physical things and activities that I can divide it up by, so that it grows distinct to me and does not vanish when I am not looking." -Per Petterson, 'Out Stealing Horses'Just wanted to share. Keep your chin up!
